The Moab Local Guide app for iPhone has a user-friendly geo fencing alert system that puts the user in charge. This tutorial video is placed in the main menu of the app behind the "tutorial" button. Here, at Rogue Wave Productions, l.l.c., we take your privacy and user interface seriously. We hope you enjoy your visit in Moab and get the most from your app! Thank you!
Moab, Utah April 28, 2014- Rogue Wave Productions, l.l.c. visits Moab, Utah during the annual car show.
Last Friday, company founder, Glenn Smith arrived in the Moab area to promote the Moab Local Guide app for iPhone. "I forgot this was auto show weekend, this is great!" Smith said. "This is a fantastic opportunity to meet with tourist and observe mobile behavior." Glenn also shook hands and spoke with several Moab business owners to promote the app's geo fencing and available ad space.
Partnering with GeoMoby, located in Perth, Australia, Rogue Wave Productions and GeoMoby have leveraged development into leading edge mobile marketing with an extremely robust context-aware application integration. "The idea is to offer highly targeted ads from participating Moab businesses to active mobile device users visiting Moab, Utah." said, Smith. "The adoption rate is expected to be on target with the positive results we are reading and hearing about around the globe." More app users are enjoying targeted offers that business owners are sending them as statistics show definite user satisfaction. The trend is expected to increase across the board according to current indications.
Geo fencing is fairly new and not as popular in the United States as it is in Europe and Asia. Concerns about privacy aka market creep and utilizing an App that is full of spam is not attractive to American users. The Moab Local Guide has the ability to turn the GeoMoby service on or off at any time. Users are encouraged to turn the service on when they are on holiday or vacationing in Moab. "Europeans frequently visit Moab and we wanted to allow these users a chance to receive special offers from local tour guides, restaurants and retailers while they are in Moab." Smith, said. "With the ability to turn the service on or off at anytime while limiting the number of ads we place, we hope to help our users and Moab businesses to connect in ways that are mutually beneficial". Orders for ad placement can be fulfilled emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org. Ad space is on a first-come, first serve basis.
The Moab Local Guide mobile app for iPhone is available in the German, Netherlands, Italian, French, Spanish, British Isle, North American and Pacific Rim app stores. Store listings are written in the native languages of each country to help users understand the app and its features. According to statistics observed from App Annie, a mobile application performance tracking entity, most of the current 1,000 plus users are from the U.S. and Europe. The app continues to grow its user base as recent promotions have proven to be favorable.
Park City, April 21, 2014- The Moab Local Guide, version 2.0 mobile app for iPhone, is ready to download.
Improved navigation, added features and larger font are all upgrades based upon recent user feedback. It is now possible to tap back to main menu items without exiting the app and most of the phone numbers and email addresses are tappable to save time and effort. We hope these changes and others makes the user interface more enjoyable and relevant.
One of the most important new features on the app is the Geo Moby button. Here's why. It is very important to turn off the location services for Moab Local Guide app while the user is not in Moab, Utah. You can do this by going to your settings menu on the home screen of your device, find "privacy" and from that menu look for "location services". Tap that button and it will show all the apps that are activly running location services. Scroll down to Moab Local Guide and slide the green button until it turns gray or white (depending on your device model). This action will save your battery while not using the app in its full capacity.
When a user is in the Moab area or planning a visit, it is highly desirable to turn the location services back on by doing the reverse order of the instructions contained in the last paragraph. Location services allows the app to track your position so you can use the map functions inside the app and you will be notified of local offers as soon as you're near a participating businesses. For example, if you were within 30 meters or close to 100 feet of a Moab Pub, you might get a notification reading; "two for one burger night, see details!" This is just one of the many offers that are planned for the user's convenience and enjoyment.
The image below is a screen shot of the GeoMoby service page. Say you're in Moab and you turn your location services back on while you're on Main Street, Moab, Utah. Next, you want to tap the GeoMoby button from the main menu of your app and then tap the black "Start Service" button as pictured below. This action will initiate a location data search for participating businesses that are near you. The distances are going to be set fairly close to each participating business so users will not get a barrage of messages to sort through.
Once the user retrieves the message, there will be a call to action to claim the Moab Local Deal. Once the message is read, it won't keep popping every minute. Take the message to the business and claim the discount or special offer! When you leave Moab, stop the service and remember to turn your location services off again.
We, at Rogue Wave Productions, l.l.c. respect your privacy and want you to be in charge of your messaging. We also want you to enjoy special offers that Moab businesses want to offer you through your app. We thank you so much for all the downloads and wonderful feedback.
The first year of any upstart company is marked by significant milestones. For Rogue Wave Productions, there have been surprising achievements coupled with formidable challenges.
Most recently, Apple's IOS7 rollout, no surprise to anyone in the industry, created and continues to create "interesting" ripples throughout the mobile application development process. This "ripple", although normal in the technical world, has stretched development in ways we couldn't have predicted. The most valuable development is learning to "wait and see" when it pertains to significant upgrades by such behemoth entities like Apple! The tendency to jump into new software installations for the sake of "being prepared, NOW", for example, is no longer going to be the way to "react". Proactively weighing what needs to be updated and when is now; modus operandi!
How to approach substantial software updates is not the only lesson the company learned its first year of operation. There are so many instances of learning, I must pause and spare our readers of the numerous tiresome stories of trial and error. All we know is we discovered that if we are not comfortable in any process, it's a sure sign we are stretching, learning and growing. Now onto the fun information!
Perhaps the most exciting development for the company is how rapidly it has expanded its network, well within one year. Our mobile applications have daily if not, hourly downloads from users all over the globe! Surprisingly, Hippie Trivia, a simple trivia game, has taken on in Iceland and Vietnam! China and Russia also "dig" the app too! This is amazing to us! Going from a vision while sitting in a coffee house to a global company within a year is mind-blowing! Another amazing fact is out of 5 published apps and growing, the most simple and "trivial" app is the highest performing so far!
Another inspiring opportunity beginning to take root within the company's product line is meeting the sudden and increased demand for small business mobile marketing consulting and app development. This trend seems to be in line with market predictions as more inquiries begin to cross my desk. Mobile browsing and shopping are rapidly outpacing PC and Laptop activity and the big players are jockeying into position to appeal to this exploding mobile market. For us, in less than a month, 4 contracts are underway as we aggressively position the company as a "small business mobile marketing and application producer". As opportnity-growth continues, we intend to assist smaller "localized" businesses to remain up to speed with mobile trends and we will do so by keeping up to speed too! (Don track shoes here.)
The concept of a "Mobile Marketing Plan" is a new and rapidly evolving one as hot technology and massively creative ideas set the ever-changing stage. "Gameification" and "location based" marketing are relatively new concepts that are changing the way consumers interact with businesses. NFC (Near Field Communication) is opening up opportunities for all sorts of businesses and individuals who have some sort of a need for close-proximity identification. Controversial in the west but taking on by fire in Asia, NFC is something to keep an eye on for sure. (Some Android devices and iPhone 5S have NFC capability) On another note, my only hope is that we don't have NFC stickers pasted on every last flat surface available!
We mention the above technologies, concepts and ideas because we will be offering creative mobile solutions for clients that will utilize state-of-the-art technology where and when it is available. It is our continued desire to grow and learn with our client base as we enter what is being called, the "reimagination" of the entire global market! It has been and continues to be a fantastic year and we look to the future with tremendous enthusiasm and excitement!
We thank our current clients for partnering with us to pave the way towards the full realization of leveraging the digital space in ways we are just now- dreaming as possible. We also thank our mobile application users for downloading our apps. We appreciate the continued feedback and please know your appeals for improving our apps are taken seriously.
Thank you for an unimaginably fantastic first year!
